Entrepreneur’s journey is never easy. Millions of obstacles can shake you and your confidence. It may be tempting to back off but perseverance always pays off. The world of business and entrepreneur is never going be easy. When the things become overwhelming just sit back and relax and try to restore your confidence and inspiration. Where would you find better inspiration than watching movies based on business world? So here we start.
1- Social Network (One of my favourite)
No wonder Social Network was a great success worldwide as it was based on Facebook’s creation and it’s founder Mark Zuckerberg. How accurate is it is a question but it definitely shows how a startup can become extremely huge success by qualities like resilience and flexibility. It shows how an average drop-out student can go on to do really great things.
2- Pirates of Silicon Valley.
It is a movie based on world’s largest technology hub- Microsoft and Apple. A made-for-TV movie released in 1999 shows us the life and rivalry of Steve and Bill Gates back in those days. Every entrepreneur must watch this movie as these “pirates” are a source of inspiration for mostly all.
It is one of the best documentaries which shows a factual information of the rise and fall in early 2000’s dot-com phenomenon. It is a wonderful movie where it takes a viewer with different phases of entrepreneurial journey in order to find success.
4- The Pursuit of Happyness.
Based on the true story of Chris Gardner, this 2006 Will Smith vehicle is one of the most inspirational and motivational films for entrepreneurs. Even when Chris became homeless and struggled to provide son with things, he never gave up his dreams. He followed his dreams sacrificing many things on his passion.
It was a movie based on baseball team. However, you don’t have to be a baseball fan for enjoying Brad Pitt’s portrayal of Billy Beane, general manager of Oakland A’s. The team didn’t have much finance to spend of players. Beane had to find innovative ways which is also one of the well known traits of entrepreneur. He/she has to be innovative in order to make something better and be successful in life.
6- The Aviator.
This movie is based on true story of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes. Detailing Hughes life until 1947, it shows how Howard became an aviation magnate while at the same time growing unstable due to his severe obsessive-compulsive disorder. What made him different was his perfection and attention to detail which separated him from his competitors.
7- Wall Street.
In 1987, director Oliver Stone made Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) one of the most infamous characters in cinema history with his motto “greed is good.” It shows you that when your desire to be successful takes over your life, it directs you to sacrificing almost everything and everyone. It tells you that entrepreneur isn’t just about being rich and popular.
8- Citizen Kane.
Even if you’re not an entrepreneur, watch Orson Welles’ 1941 masterpiece. In his quest of power and money, Charles Foster Kane, a newspaper tycoon comes to know what’s really important in life. It tells you that as an entrepreneur, a successful business is a goal but not the only one.
9- Jerry Maguire.
Again based on a true story, Jerry Maguire had an epiphany that sports agents shouldn’t only be looking at the money scenes but how to take care of their clients. It shows us step by step process of making it to the top. While making it to the top, everything will fall into place both professionally and personally.
10- Office Space.
A comedy depiction of how Peter Gibbons(Ron Livingston) discovered that he hated sitting inside a cubicle and taking orders from his creepy boss Bill Lumbergh(Gary Cole). Every entrepreneur hates working for anyone else and will sometimes go to an extreme to get fired.
