1) Tell us about yourself?
I’am Dominic Rodrigues. I am from Thane. I have completed my HSC from Mumbai University.

I always wanted to study on a platform where I would be able to improve my organising and leadership skills and be more social within a group so I took up BMS course.

After BMS, i am planning to prepare for my MBA entrance exam and along with it work for a year, and a year later after clearing my entrance  would go for a full time MBA course.

2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?
It feels great and it keeps you motivated to do better than before. It makes you feel proud of yourself.

3) Whom will you credit your success to?
I purely would credit my success to many people.
Firstly my parents who have been a constant support in whatever i wished to do,
Secondly my college teachers, Ms. Keerthi Menon and Mrs. Jisha Alwin who were always there to guide me throughout my BMS journey,
Thirdly my Navigator Tutorials professors who have worked really hard behind every student to get the best out of them,
And lastly my friends who were always there to help me in all the ways possible.

4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
No, Of course not. Infact, frankly speaking i used to just be attentive towards the lectures conducted in both college and classes and would study seriously during prelims and then before boards.

5) How did you study for Sem V?
I feel that studying for more and more hours isn’t important but the way you study and write the paper is moreover important.
I simply used to read and try to understand the head points and always made it a point to start my answers with a small introduction followed by pointwise answers. But here the points would be dependent upon the marks each question carries. Suppose its a 8 mark question i make it a point that i atleast write 9 points in it.

6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?

I found “Special Studies in Finance” (SSF) to be quite an easy subject.

7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
Yes, i always write the answers in bullet form as it makes it easy for the examiner to evaluate the answer and allot marks accordingly.

8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
I simply start with the facts and try to understand the matter and then go further and answer it. Understanding what the question wants us to write is all the more important.

9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
Yes, wherever needed i used to draw diagrams, and it actually helps to get a little more of marks as the examiner understands that you have understood the concept properly.

10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
No, i never followed any specific timetable. As i mentioned earlier i used to pay attention during lectures and later studied randomly, mostly at the end.

11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
I never studied for long hours at stretch as it would indirectly make me feel bored and distract me. So I used to take small breaks while studying…and even sometimes get down and go for a short stroll so that I feel fresh.

12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
I feel few changes have to be implemented, and more priority has to be given to excellence, and not create a win or lose situation for the students.

13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
I feel not coming from a well recognised college and not being from English medium isn’t a matter to worry about as what counts is how much knowledgeable you are. Once you know your goal and make efforts for it..Everything will fall on the right place automatically.

  14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?
I learnt that life is not just about studying and studying only, but every student should also enjoy what he is studying to the fullest. That’s what will make him a winner in long run.

What is your message to the upcoming BAF / BBI / BMS / BFM / BMM students?
Just one thing to say, in this competitive world never think of defeating someone, rather always think of winning.

15) Your feedback for BMS.co.in?
BMS.co.in is a very helpful website for all the BMS students and a very great way of appreciating the students by awarding  and interviewing them. This keeps the students motivated.
