It was a day whole sporting world had eyes on just one match the final of FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. Germany and Argentina had finally reached to the stage where almost every nation in the World desires to be one day, the Final. Germany probably were favorites, since they have been the best team entire tournament and they had just scored 7 past Brazil few days ago, while Argentina were a team not many had predicted to reach this far but somehow Messi took this team this far.
For Argentina it was all about winning the greatest international trophy in football in the home of their biggest rivals Brazil, while for Germany it was about doing the entire Europe proud by winning the world cup in South American continent which had never happened before.
It was 120 minutes of great game of football with Germany winning it by a late goal from substitute Mario Gotze. Germany won it for the 4th time in their History equaling Italy’s record and just one World Cup behind Brazil. This final was not like the last one between Spain and Netherlands which some dubbed as the most boring final ever, this final was just like this world cup had been, a thriller.
It was a game with end to end action with both teams having fair share of chances and even the winner for Gotze was technically a beautiful piece of Goal which will stand in the memory forever. Messi won the Golden Ball which was actually unfair seeing players like Muller and Rodriguez and even Robben who had arguably played better but while even after getting the award Messi looked lost and depressed. It was a game full of emotions there were tears for both sets of fans and players for one team being happy ones while sad for Argentians.
So the World Cup is over what now? As usual we will be waiting for a few weeks before the exciting club seasons start and wait for another 4 years for World Cup in Russia. It is quite amazing that this cup was in a hot country in south America while the next will be in the North in freezing Russia. However, this World Cup has surely been one of the best tournaments ever and will always live in the memories of football fanatics.
