Why Reserve When You Don’t Deserve?

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVERIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;

and to promote….

 indian reservation system

So, our constitution declares India as a SECULAR nation and it states India as a LAND OF EQUALS. This is also supposed to be kept in mind while performing different legal activities and while taking various national decisions. But the question is, is this really happening? In my opinion, NO. If our nation is secular, so does that mean discrimination on grounds of CASTE is allowed? Our government will not give national importance to any religion, but yes, it can easily give importance to CASTE and discriminate us.

Today, students are discriminated, not on the grounds of religion, but on the grounds of caste. This discrimination is done through the “RESERVATION SYSTEM”.

During the period of British rule and at the time of our independence, there were few classes in our society which were much more backward compared to other classes. This was mainly because of religious and social beliefs of people during that time. So to lift these classes, government introduced Reservation System in India. Seats were reserved in educational institutions and government services. This system benefited our country as it brought doctors, lawyers, teachers and other professionals from these classes. As it is said, “Everything changes with time”, this system has also changed. Though this system still reserves seats, but the difference is that that it is no more beneficial. Time has brought change in the standard of living of the people belonging to so called BACKWARD CLASSES. They are no more backward. Still, the number of reserved seats is increasing. This has also started illegal activities. People make fake caste certificate for getting a better future. In short, this system has turned India into a place of RESERVED and not DESERVED.

People belonging to special castes are ruling and ruining the future of our country. It is not allowing talented people to play their role in the development of our country. It has allowed unwanted people to enter our system and is permitting to destroy everything. Our development has stopped because our nation is not giving importance to talent.

Best example of caste reservation can be taken from Maharashtra. As of 25 June 2014 Maharashtra has73% reservation in educational institutions and government jobs leaving only 27% for General/Open category.

Does this mean that our career and our future depend on our caste? Is this the same equality we get which our preamble states?

If we belong to SC, ST, OBC or any other such caste, we can easily get government jobs and also admission in good colleges. On the contrary, we are very unfortunate if we are born in a family belonging to OPEN category. We need to work hard, score more and we also are supposed to have some extraordinary talent if we want to get a government job. High percentage is required for a person belonging to Open category to get admission in good educational institutes because maximum seats are reserved in the name of caste and few are unofficially reserved for a Rich man’s child.So there is no guarantee that even after working hard, we will succeed.

If we want to see our country as a DEVELOPED NATION then this system has to be changed. Government needs to open up their eyes to see that even all the people belonging to Open category are not rich. So, if our government really wants to lift up people, it should see their economical conditions. Government should provide financial aid in the form of scholarships to those who are talented neglecting their caste. Equal opportunities should be provided from government’s side. This will help talent to move forward.

Idea of JUDGING A PERSON ON HIS CAPABILITIES should be given importance. If we update this system, then India will not be much far from the title of a DEVELOPED NATION, having a correct system.

SAY NO TO RESERVATION SYSTEM!!!

LIKE if you agree..
