Ronjan Sodhi (4)

Sad news for the Asian Games gold medalist Ronjan Sodhi who is now no longer a part of the 30-Member CWG. It seen that Ronjan Sodhi is running through poor form these days and that is why he being out of the squad for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The squad has a list of all the top shooters like Abhinav Bindra and Vijay Kumar gunning for podium finishes.

The national Rifle Association of India’s (NRAI) selection committee on Friday picked a team of top shooters including Abhinav Bindra, Vijay Kumar and other 8 top shooters to compete in six events. The rifle/ pistol team for the event to be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 3 was selected last month. The basis on which the shooters were selected are the scores achieved in the selection trials held earlier this month at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Almaty.

In the last Commonwealth Games at home, Indian shooters won 14 gold, 11 silver and five bronze medals. Shooting alone contributed 30 out of 101 medals won by India. Thus a matter of pride and honour for our country!

But this time the pair events have been deleted from the program of Commonwealth Games 2014 and this has also brought down the number of medals in the commonwealth Games 2014, compared to Commonwealth Games 2010 says NRAI in a statement. Thus making it difficult to win medals this time. So lot of hard work and little amount of luck will be required this time in order to win.

Hence therefore we wish all our Indian Shooter’ All The Very Best’ and hope that they come back with ample number of medals hung around their necks!
