Lucky break now you have landed your first job. Now you think that everything will go smooth sailing until you get that promotion you have always been dreaming about. You need to make a good impression of yours on the first day at work.
- BE PREPARED
Check what the office dress code is and dress yourself accordingly. A neat and attractive first impression is always a priority. Also its important to be on time.
- BE FRIENDLY
Smile and make introductions and get to know your colleagues this will give you a boost of confidence and take awkward feeling you will have sitting alone at your desk. Remember names and do not forget their job designation as well.
- ASK QUESTIONS
If you genuinely don’t know then ask around for help. Its not a pain to ask work related questions on the first few weeks of work. Make people feel that you know what you are doing.
- DO NOT BE A KNOW IT ALL
A sacred rule for all new employees. The people at work would already have more experience within the company than you telling them how to do their job will not make your life easier. Know your place and be humble you still have a lot to learn.
- AVOID GOSSIPS
Every workplace has its own politics. You should avoid getting involved with it on your first day just change the subject. Do not bring the gossips outside the office it will not only show how unprofessional you are but also discourage any other potential employers from hiring you.
- ENJOY YOURSELF
You will not have a lot of work to do yet on your first day so you will have time to get to know people and learn what the next months or years of your working life will be like. Don’t be too stressed out and don’t forget to have lots of fun.
