Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj, better known as Kapil Dev was born on 6th Jan’59.
Kapil made his Test cricket debut against Pakistan on 16 October 1978.
Kapil Dev is the only player in the history of world cricket to have taken more than 400 International wickets and scored more than 5,000 runs in Tests, making him one of the greatest all-rounders of all time.
Kapil retired from cricket in the year 1994, with a world record of taking most test crickets. He retired in 1994, after breaking Richard Hadlee’s then standing record for the most Test wickets taken.
On 24 September 2008, Kapil Dev was commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Territorial Army by the then Chief of the Army Staff, General Deepak Kapoor.
Kapil Dev is the owner of the Captain’s Eleven restaurant in Chandigarh and Patna. He also owns the Kaptain’s Retreat Hotel in Chandigarh.
Kapil Dev also holds the record for the most innings in a complete career (184) without being run out which makes him an legendary all-rounder.
Kapil Dev has earned 10 man-of the-match awards in ODI’s over a decade.(1982-92)
He has also made guest appearances in the films like Iqbal, Chain Khuli ki Main Khuli and Mujhse Shadi Karogi.
