- Tell us something about yourself?
When you come from a regular service family where everyone you know and the people they know are most likely engineers, doctors, or someone somewhere with a good education who is working for a good company, you are somewhere intrigued by the question, “what would it be like to not work but do your own thing”. With that in mind, I went down the regular career path of studying and getting a job (studying English, getting a diploma in print journalism and working at media companies). Somewhere down the line, you will figure out what you are really passionate about. For me, it was about starting a company that would provide a great content experience. Thankfully, I was also associated with people who inspired and encouraged me to take the plunge. And that’s how it all started.
- Tell us something about your venture.

Recently, we have tied up with Google to provide companies stunning 360 degree virtual interactive tours. This Google tour, also known as Google Business Photos, lets your customers see inside your business, explore the interiors, experience the ambience and walkthrough your venue. Its an amazing concept and slowly every business is waking up to the need of powerful online visual content.
- What is your philosophy towards work?
It doesn’t matter how much time you are working, it matters how much you are working in that time.
- Whom do you admire as your role model? And why?
As an entrepreneur, it has to be Steve Jobs for creating insanely different experiences, for selling dreams through his products, for his passion towards work, for proving that dramatic turnaround would be positive.
As human beings, it would be my parents. They have taught me to think bigger, bolder and better.
- “Management is core to every individual, organization & society.” Give your views on it.
Yes, this statement is quite true. I believe that management helps bring order and discipline to the way an individual or organization manages their time, resources and skills. It prevents chaotic behaviour, and forces us to approach challenges and issues in the right manner. Managing is a quality that is a combination of art and science, and requires practice to master. For example, a working woman has to practice strong managerial skills to manage her responsibilities to her job, her family, her friends etc. Similarly, a CEO may be responsible to multiple stakeholders, including employees, customers, stockholders, vendors etc. What is common to both situations is that both the working woman and the CEO need to live up to the expectations of multiple stakeholders, who are demanding, who need to be motivated to deliver and who need constant encouragement and feedback to keep going. Management helps us find solutions to these challenges.
- Name 3 qualities of prime importance that a women entrepreneur should possess.
1) Self belief
- According to you, what are the challenges for Women Entrepreneurship today?
For women entrepreneurs, one of the main challenges is balancing the work and the family. And no matter how much Sherly Sandberg advices you to not feel guilty about not being able to give your family enough time, its something you cannot just ignore. That is also the reason why a lot of women entrepreneurs don’t think big about their business. So I would say at the end of the day, you need a very supportive and encouraging family back home.
Other challenges would include resources and funding.
- Can Entrepreneurship be taught in B-Schools/Management Institutes/Colleges?
Yes it can be, though nothing teaches you better than the actual field.
- Is the Name of the Institute from where a student pursues his/her Graduation/Post Graduation or other courses important while setting up your business?
I don’t think so.
- Do you think today’s economy is conducive for a new venture to start upon?
As long as you have an idea that’s not just kickass in concept, but also solves a particular pain point of the customer, you are good to go anytime.
- “Earning more & more is the motive behind any business.” Is it justifiable?
If you are asking this to a company which is not more than three years old, then I think it is justifiable since all you are thinking is how to stabilise. Once you have a sustainable model, you think of growing big, and then you think of taking risks and experimenting. Money is the fuel of any business and without the funds, you cant go down that road for too long. Plus, if you are earning more and more, it also means you are growing, which should be justifiable.
- Share with us the most enjoyable moment you had experienced on work.
There have many many moments but I still remember the excitement of getting our first big order from Nokia.
- Your message to the aspiring entrepreneurs?
1) Put your business idea to test and see how its helping the customer.
2) Be prepared for rejection and people saying your idea your work as fabulously as you thought it would. But remember that the kick of the “highs” in business is much higher than the lowest point of the worst “lows”.
3) Read up as much as you can on your industry and make a clear plan.
4) Follow your passion. It might not always work out, but you will never know unless you try.
