A Teenager’s Take On Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

People always complain about India being a very unclean place and compare it with places like US, UK, Australia, etc. At the same time if somebody stops someone from littering at public places,”Yeh India hai, yahan sab chalta hai” is a very common dialogue. Noticing these two things is not rare here, still nobody tried to put in any effort, but our PM Narendra Modi is not one of these “common people”. He took that first step.

On 2nd October, he launched SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN i.e. MISSION CLEAN INDIA. He himself started cleaning process with a broom. From that day onwards, every day we have a minister, Bollywood or sports star on TV with brooms in their hands, cleaning roads. A great thing indeed. At least Modi’s effort opened eyes of these so called “Rich and Famous” people. Among these people also, some of them are doing this work from their heart while others just want to cover one hour’s news.

Seeing our country’s PM doing this cleaning work, various citizens started this work in their societies and nearby areas. It has actually brought a positive change on many people and on the youth of our country. People are coming up with solutions to solve the problem and to keep their surrounding clean. Maximum societies are now taking up the idea of separation of biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable wastes.

On one hand we have these people who have started thinking about their country and on the other, we still have people who don’t care about all this. For them spitting on walls, roads, etc is very normal. They still don’t hesitate in throwing wrappers out of the bus window, on road and other public places. They still walk with that “chalta hai attitude”. These are the type of people who spread untidiness and then complain about India not being a clean place. Complaining about sweeper’s and government’s work for not doing anything is very easy for them. Great job indeed!

This is the present scenario, where in one person is still thinking, the other one is working on it while the third one doesn’t give a damn. Although PM has started this mission, but it will be completed only when we are with him. Though there are many obstructions, I can see a bright future of this mission. People, especially youth, are with PM, what else is required? If nation’s future (youth) is with him, the day is not far when India would be included in “Clean Nations”. But yes, this is only possible if people continue to show love for their country and their determination towards this mission in the future. Also, people who are not giving a damn, if understand this mission’s importance and leave their dirty habits, work would be completed in less time.

Every citizen should remember obey thing-“Let the world say what it chooses, I shall tread the path of duty”, by Swami Vivekananda, and do their job from their heart to turn India into CLEAN INDIA..
