A CAG report states that Mumbai university has not conducted academic audits for years together because of which around 269 colleges don’t have principals and 546 colleges have temporary affiliations.


What is an academic audit?

An academic audit is a review of the processes that faculty members in their department use to provide quality education. It focuses on how the faculty members organize and perform the activities.

Why is it essential?

In order to maintain education quality and keep a tab on government grants.

What does the Maharashtra Universities Act 1994 state?

An academic audit of departments and affiliated colleges is mandatory to be conducted atleast once in three years.
