Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
i)Â Â Â Â Â Â GRI is a reporting standard rather than a performance standard.
ii)     It was established in 1997 with the mission of designing globally applicable guidelines for preparing enterprise-level  sustainability reports  including both  social  &  environmental indicators.
iii)Â Â Â Â The GRI is convened by CERES (Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies)
& incorporates the active participations of corporations, NGO‟s, International organization,
UN agencies, Consultants, Accountancy org., business associations, Universities & other stake holder around the world.
iv)    The  GRI  first  released  its  Sustainability  Reporting  guidelines  in  1999  &  is  now  a permanent, independent, international body with a multi-stake holder governance structure.
v)Â Â Â Â Â Its core mission will be maintenance and enhancement of the guidelines through a process of ongoing consultation & stake holder engagement.
