An Interview with Sanskruti Suresh Adivarekar, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper, Chetana`s Hazarimal Somani College of Commerce and Economics (73%)
- Tell us more about yourself.
I am born and brought up in Mumbai. I have done my schooling from St. Joseph`s convent high school. Did my junior college from R.A. Podar college of Commerce and Economics. I like reading, travelling.
- Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?
In the college yes, because I have been doing that for the last four semesters. I owe the success to my college and teachers firstly to have taught me, my parents and friends to have given me the much needed support during and before the exam.
- Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?
To be very honest, a few weeks before the exam
- How did you allot time to different subjects?
Yes I did follow a self made timetable a month prior, I studied 6- 8 hours a day.
- Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?
All subjects are easy provided they are studied well. But subjects like logistics and financial management need a little extra effort. They cannot be prepared last moment. If you say for writing the papers, being a little slow with my writing speed I always started my paper with Section II first so that I could finish my paper in time. Pertaining the case study I always wrote a summary of the given case and then answered the questions.
- Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?
No I did not join any coaching class because BMS is not that difficult that one may require an external help other than college.
- Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?
Yes being a third year student I was in the core organizing team. And I did manage doing both.
- Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?
I did a summer internship for two months after my second year.
- Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?
Committing suicide is no way dealing with failure. One should be confident with whatever preparation he/she has done. Taking unwanted tension will only make the person forget whatever is learnt.
- Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?
Yes, BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock but I feel they are essential as they do help us prepare for the final exam in a way. The one`s who do them sincerely are benefited.
- What are the future plans post BMS?
I plan to do my post graduation with specialization in Human Resources
