  • Tell us more about yourself.

Hi! I am Diana Wilson. I am the kind of person who likes to dream big. Once I set any goal for myself I put in all my efforts to reach it.

  • Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

No. I had put in a lot of efforts this semester so I hoped for the best but I was prepared for the worst. I would credit this success to my lecturers because without their support and guidance I couldn’t have scored so well.

  • Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

I started studying seriously 2 weeks before the prelims. I treated the prelims as the final exams and made sure I studied all the subjects properly for it. That made the studying in the month before the exam a lot easier.

  •  How did you allot time to different subjects?

A timetable never worked for me. I would start by studying the subject I found easiest and then progress to the tougher ones. This worked for me because when you think of studying the difficult subjects straight away you start looking for reasons to delay studying.

  •  Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

It is important to treat each subject equally. Most students tend to spend more time on the tougher subjects and less on the easier ones and hence lose out on marks in scoring subjects.

Time management during the exams is essential. It’s a 60 marks paper for 120 minutes. So do not spend more than 20 minutes on a 10 marks question.

Case study can be cracked if your concepts are clear. There is no shortcut to this.

  • Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

I haven’t joined any coaching classes as I feel self-study is sufficient. If one pays attention in college lectures, practices at home and gets all doubts cleared by professors at college, then extra coaching will not be needed.

  • Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

Yes, I do participate in inter-collegiate management fests and given the short duration of lectures at college, I think a BMS student can manage both studies and extracurricular activities very well.

  •  Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

Students must realise that failure and success are just a part of life. Success shouldn’t go to your head and failure to the heart. Stressing on the past yields no result.

I like to unwind by listening to music or watching TV when I am stressed. Or when I am stressed about the pending assignments and projects, I start working on them immediately to prevent the situation from becoming more stressful.

  •  Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

Yes. I think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams. But these actually get some of the preparation for the final exams started. The only change I would like to see would be more industrial visits and visits to service sector institutes too as management deals with all the aspects of the industry and not just production of goods.

  •  What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

There is no substitute to hard work. Your sincerity reflects in the way you write and present your paper.

  •  What are the future plans post BMS?

To pursue MBA from one of the best institutes in the country.
