  • Tell us more about yourself.

I am a self motivated girl who dreams BIG!! I topped in all the 5 semesters of BMS in my college. I along with a team organized the first ever inter-college festival in my college. I aspire to become a leading woman entrepreneur of the world. I believe in the philosophy of “STAY HUNGRY STAY FOOLISH“. I always keep demanding for more and more from life.

I am an extrovert, confident and a fun loving person to be with. I love to swim. It’s my favorite hobby.

  • Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

Yes I was confident and positive about topping in the university exams. ONLY WHEN YOU CAN DREAM IT.. YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT !! I don’t believe I have to be better than everybody else, I believe I have to be better than I ever thought I could be.

I topped in the subjects- Human Resource Management, Service Sector Management, Business Ethics and CSR, Logistics and supply chain management, Special Studies in Marketing.

I would like to give credit to my loving parents Sonia and Bharat Hemdev for their support and faith in me, My guide and our BMS Co-ordinator Prof.Ritika Hemdev for motivating me,

My closest friend Sahil Haria for being there in all aspects of my life.

My dear Brother Krish and all my friends namely Neha , Jhanvi ,Anam ,Rukhsar ,Ashwin ,Meghana, Henston and Ashutosh for encouraging me.

The blessings of my grandparents made me achieve my goal.

  • Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

The secret of my success is that I attend all lectures actively in my college. I have a habit of asking doubts which make my concepts very clear. I make my own notes while listening to the professor. I do not learn from textbooks. I started studying 2 weeks before board exams. I never studied religiously from day one as I have a good grasping power thus attending lectures was more than enough for me.

  • How did you allot time to different subjects?

I had made a huge schedule with 5-6hrs of studying per day, but I never followed it.

Studying for long makes me dull and stressed out. I study smartly which means to study only the key or important points.

I never mug up. I always make the answer in a story format, read, comprehend it and write it in my own words.FM is the only subject in Sem 5 which needs to be practiced regularly.

I studied for about 2 hrs a day before my exams. In those 2 hrs I could complete everything because I used to concentrate fully. The quantity of time doesn’t matter.. Quality does!

  • Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

HRM, CSR, SSM and marketing are easy papers, it just needs a read. Logistics is a subject which needs to be learnt in a proper order and by hearted thus its preparation must start in advance. FM needs to be practiced daily.

Case Study has always been my favorite part in the paper as it involves application of the concepts learnt in the respective subjects. It is very easy. It can never be wrong in a theory paper..The answer lies in any of the chapters of the respective subject. You just need to crack it well by analyzing the case. Always remember – CASE STUDY IS NOT A COMPREHENSION SO DO NOT COPY PASTE IT!!

Always give examples in all the concept and long answers.

Draw as many simple diagrams as possible.

Write in a point format.

Give headings to the points to be written.

Never leave any answer blank.. Even if you don’t know it just relate it to the chapter and write something.

And lastly.. JUST BE CONFIDENT AND POSITIVE about all your answers.

  • Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

If you have a brilliant teacher teaching you FM then you need not join classes. If you think you have a need you must join classes for FM. No other subject requires classes. I had taken classes for FM only.

  • Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

Yes I take part in all the extracurricular activities. I was one of the initiators and the President of our inter college festival. I won Metamorphosis 2012 which is a product launch competition along with a team of 5(me, Sahil, Henston, Preeti and Ashneet). I believe all these activities keep us active and enhances our skills and knowledge. It gives us a competitive edge and a huge exposure too. Any BMSite can manage studies and extra activities together.

  • Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?

Yes I did internship in a recruitment consultancy during my summer holidays. I did not do any courses or internship during college days as I believe in focusing at 1 thing first, achieving a desired result and then moving to another thing.

  • Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

It is very sad to know that students get depressed due to failure. Our greatest weakness is giving up! the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time..

I am fortunate enough to have a family and friend circle who is my stress busters!!I always be happy and think good. The key is to have company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls forth your best!!

I love to see movies and roam around with friends. I also swim a lot which makes me relaxed. You must be positive and have faith in your abilities!!

In case of too much stress , you must take deep breathes and drink lots of water or go for a head massage.

Read books which motivate you, like “Stay Hungry Stay Foolish”,”The Secret”,”The monk who sold his ferrari”etc

ALWAYS REMEMBER.. FAILURE IS NOT THE END , WITH A NEW DAY COMES NEW STRENGTH AND NEW THOUGHTS!!

  • Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?

I think that IV’s are very important as it releases students stress and builds up team spirit. Through an IV student gets to learn practical knowledge. Only reading in books and personally experiencing it is very different. It motivates students for their future. It also helps students to make good friends and share memories with them. The work culture of the place visited gets known. The learnt concepts and processes are practically experienced. It enhances the knowledge of students.

The industries I have visited are – In Pune  -EXIDE batteries, FORBES MARSHALL .

In Amritsar – OCM suiting, WOODMAC .

                                                             In Hyderabad- HMT.

  • Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

Yes BMS students are always given various ppts and assignments all the time. It is good in a way because it makes students independent and also enhances their communication skills. It builds team spirit and makes them a manager! It builds personality. But it also adds too much of pressure. Thus I feel that 1 assignment should be given at a time not all the subject’s assignments at one time itself. Assignments, ppts must be taken some days before internal exams and not just 1-3  days before exams.

  • What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

Good luck for the BMS course. Believe in yourself and have faith in your abilities!! Always do your best.. because what you plant now, will harvest later!!

Cherish your visions and your dreams.. They are the blueprints of your achievements!!

Do not get stressed during exams. Just think that you can do it and I am sure that you will!!

All the best

  • What are the future plans post BMS?

After BMS I will be working for 1-2yrs, get good exposure and then pursue MBA after which I aspire to become an entrepreneur by commencing my own new business and live my dreams!!
