Tell us more about yourself.

I am a fun loving girl, enjoy being with friends, enjoys listening music.

Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

I had done my part of work by studying and writing the exams well. I was waiting for the results eagerly. I was expecting to top in the exam. I credit my success to my parents, teachers and friends. My friends were very supportive.

Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

Can’t say from day one I started my preparation. I used to study whenever I felt like (the theory subjects) and the practical ones (like Operations research, Investment analysis and portfolio mgmt.) I used to practise daily. I personally believe that when you have interest in a particular task then only you can accomplish that task efficiently. So whenever I felt like studying I studied. But I always made sure that I am not lagging behind from the class.

How did you allot time to different subjects?

I believe that there should be continuity in the learning process for understanding the concepts more clearly and for effective learning. So I used to set a target of completing one particular theory subject in a week or to the maximum 1.5 weeks. Throughout the week I would do only that particular subject and the practical subjects I did daily. After completing that particular subject I would move on to the next theory subject. I practised the practical subjects daily so my maths could become better and faster. I never used to see how many hours I study.

Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

Always underline the main things, the key words while studying. This will be a great help during the exam time. Always write examples with a pencil besides the note. So whenever you study you will have a look on the examples and this will make sure you write those examples in the exam. And for subjects like Operations Research, Investment analysis and Portfolio mgmt and International Finance you need to practise daily for scoring good marks. Write all the exam papers neatly, underline the important words. Your handwriting should be legible, leave enough space between 2 answers or preferably start the new answer from a fresh page. Always write examples at the end of the answer and in practical subjects underline the final answer. ALWAYS USE THAT PEN IN THE EXAM WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN USING THE YEAR THROUGHOUT BECAUSE THE SAME BRAND PEN WILL BE MORE COMFORTABLE TO YOU IN WRITING SINCE YOU ARE USED TO THAT PEN.

Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

BMS students don’t require any classes when the teachers are good. It’s the students’ individual choice because one knows oneself better. One can get to know in some few days whether they require tuitions or not.

Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

Yes, I did participate in college festivals. Last year I had also anchored the quiz show in our college. Managing both the things (studies and extra co-curricular activities) is possible only when the individual is interested in both the things.

Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

I think parents should be more supportive to their children. Even if you fail in your exam that is not the end of your life. Life has many more things to be discovered. Committing suicide is being like a coward.  I have personally seen many people who have not even completed their schooling properly but are very successful in their life. They run their own business so efficiently. We should always try to take such examples from the world around us and motivate ourselves. One should pursue in what one is good at and should not pursue what others say. Parents, family and friends-they are a great stress buster. For me, my mother was always supportive. I used to share everything with her. In the evening time with a cup of coffee I used to tell what all happened throughout the day, the ups and downs of the day and everything.

She used to give me suggestions on how to tackle with different things and situations. This worked for me and I used to be stress relieved.

Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

No, I don’t think we are flooded with assignments. In fact I believe giving assignments helps us increase our writing speed which indirectly helps us in completing the exam papers on time. And internal exams do so much of good to students. Because of internal exams we study throughout the semester. And projects help us in exploring new things. It also helps us in identifying our potential.

What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

Always be active, have faith in almighty, believe in hard work and always try to be different from others….be innovative. This will definitely take you to places.

What are the future plans post BMS?

I would like to pursue my higher studies and want to work in FINANCE sector.
