An Interview with Priyanka U. Puthran, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper, M.L.Dahanukar College Of Commerce (MLDC) (76.33%)
- Tell us about yourself:
I am fun loving, introvert, hard working and ambitious girl. I also love exploring different places.
- Where you expecting to top in exams?
No, it came as a pleasant surprise. I would like to credit this success to my teachers, parents and last but not the least to Almighty for giving me strength to overcome all obstacles.
- Did you prepare from day one or a few weeks before exams?
BMS students are known for presentations. So after my presentations were done I started with my studies. It is very important to study from day one. I made a study time table only one month prior to exams. According to me quality study is important rather than quantity studying so I didn’t study for fixed number of hours per day.
- Can you share some insight on how to crack the subject before exams?
Before exams one should go through past five years question papers and should only focus on what is more important.
- Which are the easy subjects? Any special way of writing the answers. How to crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
Theory subjects are bit easier than practical. However theory subjects are vast as compared to practical subjects. In case of theory subjects, answers should be written in points. Examples and diagrams will help to enhance your answers. In short papers should be presentable. Practical subjects i.e FM and SSF need sheer practice. Conceptual understanding is very important in case of subjects like FM, SSF and Logistics.
As far as case studies are concerned students should have combination of practical and theoretical knowledge. Application of practical knowledge is very important
- Do you think BMS students require coaching classes or is self study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for particular subject?
BMS students can rely on self study. However to be on safer side I had joined coaching classes for FM and SSF.
- Did you participate in college fest of extracurricular activities? Do think a BMS students can manage both studies and extracurricular activities?
As I mentioned earlier I am a bit introvert, I never participated in college fest and extracurricular activities. Frankly speaking I thought it would consume lot of my time. But students can manage both.
- Did you pursue any additional course or internship alongside BMS?
No.
- Today we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams? What do you have to say about it? Did you use any special technique for stress management?
It is very sad that students are committing suicide out of tension or failure. The best way to keep depression or tension at bay is to be prepared before hand for exams.
- Do you think the number of industrial visits should be increased for BMS students? Which industries have you visited?
No, I don’t think number of industrial visits should be increased. It is sufficient.
- Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects, internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in BMS curriculum?
Yes, I think the number of presentations should be reduced and for TY, there should be no presentations as we get very less time to prepare for our exams.
- What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?
Work hard and stay focused and give your prelims for better preparation.
- What are the future plans post BMS?
Post BMS I am planning to pursue CS.
- Any feedback/suggestion for BMS.co.in?
