  • Tell us more about yourself.

I’m a chilled out person. At the same time I’m very emotional. I like to explore new things and always open for opportunities. I’m fond of doing creative stuff. I believe if we have the will power we can achieve anything

  • Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

Yes. I had some gut feeling that I will at least be amongst the top 2 scorers of my college. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my teachers, parents, my sister and my friends. They have always supported and motivated me and provided me with any kind of help I required. My teachers were always there to clear my doubts even a day before the exams especially in the subjects which contained numericals – FM and SSF.

  • Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

No. I started studying just a few weeks before exams. Subjects like FM and SSF I tried to do as and when it was done in college as it had numericals so some practice in these kinds of subjects is always beneficial. Theory subjects I started just a few weeks before. But due to internal exams I was always in touch with the syllabus. HRM and logistics I had covered enough portion because of the tests conducted for these subjects.

  • How did you allot time to different subjects?

As the exams were nearing the syllabus seemed to be pretty vast. I was hardly prepared for the prelims held in college. So I decided to study whatever I could but did it properly. SSM is a very vast subject and consumed most of the time. Having just few days left for the exams, I started preparing for it rigorously and studied at least 6-7 hrs a day.

  • Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

FM and SSF consist more of numericals and the same should be concentrated on. Numericals have more weightage in these subjects so they are very scoring. Theory for these subjects can be done at the end but atleast the entire thing should be read and understood as this will help in concepts.

The syllabus of SSM was quite vast. It needed a lot of time, though it was simple. So it should be started a bit earlier. Business Ethics is a subject which can be understood at a practical level. People say that Logistics is very tough and students tend to get KT in this subject but if you study this subject properly you will definitely get through. HRM is a nice subject, simple and easy to understand. In short numericals need to be practiced and theory should be understood not mugged up.

Case studies are always based on the syllabus and so the answers to it should be related to the syllabus. The syllabus should be applied in the case study. This will be very helpful and you will be able to crack it easily. All subjects contain concepts. If the matter is well understood it will be easier to write.

Answers should always be written in pointer form and wherever possible examples should be written. A neat paper should be presented.

  • Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

I did not join any coaching class. I believe self study is the best way to study. If you yourself don’t want to study then nobody can make you study! It has become like a myth that if you don’t join any class you won’t be able to pass or score well. However it is an individual’s choice as some join for practice and this benefits them. Off course I had doubts, but my college professors always helped me out and I’m always grateful to them for this.

  • Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

Yes I love to participate in extracurricular activities. I even participated in the inter-college chess tournament. I was in the creative’s committee of Lakshya. Such things make me chilled out and relaxed. BMS students can easily handle both.

  • Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?

I have done two modules of NCFM and one module of BCSM Certification course.

  • Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

It is disheartening to hear about such things. Exam is not the only thing in life. Each one has a distinct ability. If you have the will power then you can achieve anything. Nothing is permanent, not even the hard times…So just put in your best efforts and you can get through. Do what makes you happy and have faith in yourself. Don’t be pushed by your problems; be led by your dreams.

  • Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?

Yes.
We visited United Breweries and a Steel Company which are located in Goa

  • Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

Yes we are! But this is how BMS is supposed to be. And eventually we will be able to learn to manage and work under pressure…After all we are future managers..:p

  • What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

Put in some efforts and you will be able to come out with flying colours.

  • What are the future plans post BMS?*

I plan to work after completing graduation for 1-2 years and then pursue masters degree.
