Just as financial audits are conducted, audits or evaluations of the HRM program should be conducted periodically to assure that its objectives are being accomplished. Audits typically involve analyzing data relative to the program, including employee turnover, grievances, absences, accidents, and similar indicators. Special attention is usually given to assessing compliance with laws and regulations governing various specific areas such as equal employment opportunity and safety and health. A comprehensive audit should encompass all aspects of the HR function. This audit should be performed by both the HR department and the operating and line managers.
