The first event in the series of ‘Academic Excellence Awards 2015’ organized by ManagementParadise.com and WeSchool, Matunga witnessed an overwhelming response from the student, families and faculties alike. On the first day of this event held at Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research (WeSchool), 120 students from over 120 colleges of the Bachelors in Management Studies course of the University of Mumbai were felicitated.
The event received half its success when the first achiever entered the venue well before time and registered himself at the desk; after which no one looked back. The high tea that followed the registrations before the event was definitely relieving for the parents who had come after a tiring day at work just to see their child getting felicitated.
The event started with an address by Mr. Kartik Raichura, the CEO of ManagementParadise.com who extended a warm welcome to the audience present on behalf of the organizing team. He was excited to share the stories of success through a short tale and his own experiences. A BMS alumni himself and an alumnus of the WeSchool, Kartik appealed to the students to follow the pursuit of excellence. He also highlighted the role of ManagementParadise.com and its subsidiary websites in revolutionizing the world of management education. “Small steps define huge success stories”, was the key takeaway for the students.
Following the welcome address, came inProf. Samir Karkhanis, the Head of Marketing & Business Development at WeSchool. Prof. Karkhanis emphasized the evolving role anddefinition of “corporate leadership” in the context of today’saccelerated globalization, fast changing technologies, demanding clients and unpredictable socio-economic-politicalsituations.He further also mentioned that, “Nurturing design thinking and innovation competencies are at the core of the Welingkar philosophy and WeSchool’s pioneering programs coupled with the Global Citizen Leadership Program (GCL) provides leadership and innovation knowledge along with an opportunity to learn and practice multi-disciplinary skills in a real-life context to holistically transform and lead betterment of self, organization and society”
The event was glorified by the presence of distinguished personalities from the entertainment, literary and the social circles like Vipul Goyal, Aanjjan Srivastav, Iqbal Khan, Vinta Nanda and Faraaz Kazi as guests of honour for this event. The enthusiasm among the students was taken to a level of high energy when Vipul Goyal performed a piece of standup comedy at the start of the event and added those extra humorous spices in the auditorium.
Indian television and Bollywood actor, Iqbal Khan who came in next spoke about importance of kindness and its role in our life. He congratulated the students on their success but told them to stay kind in whatever they do and wherever they go in their lives. Renowned filmmaker and social activist Vinta Nanda addressed to the students by making them understand the responsibility of sustaining success and achievements. “Your actual tasks begin when you finish an achievement because you have to sustain it”, she says. The famous theatre artiste and actor Aanjjan Srivastavaspoke about how a degree is not everything what you make of yourself is supreme. Well-known author and youth icon Faraaz Kazi enthralled the audience with the stories of his childhood and shared with everyone the importance of reading. A BMS alumni himself, Faraaz wholeheartedly distributed some copies of his author-debut book, ‘Truly deeply madly’.
The audience was fortunate to listen to those motivating words by the guests of honours and the students felt lucky being felicitated by their stars.
The first phase of the Academic Excellence Awards 2015 concluded with a closing note and a vote of thanks to all the attendees who attended the event, patrons who extended support to the event through all means and media who covered the event across the print, electronic and online platforms.
The organizers team now looks forward to the success of the phase two and three of this three-day event on the 29th and 30th April 2015.
