Mardi Gras or Mardi Gras season is also referred to as “Fat Tuesday” and “Carnival season” which is the beginning on or after the Epiphany or Kings day. It is the practice of the last day of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting which begins on Ash Wednesday. This day is also called as “Shrove Tuesday” – shrove means confess.

Mardi Gras day is celebrated by wearing masks and costumes in dancing, sports, competitions and parades. In US, it is now called as “Mardi Gras Day” or “Fat Tuesday”. Other famous cities for Mardi Gras celebrations include Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Barranquilla, Colombia; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; Quebec City, Canada; Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico; and New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.
