After completion of HSC everyone has a question in their mind of what they are supposed to do further? Which professional course should we go? What is the best career option? So I am writing this article to help you solve your queries. I am a BMS student of (THAKUR COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND COMMERCE) and have complete my three years journey by studying BMS which is just not the bachelor degree but a degree that will give you so many new experiences that after completion you can proudly say I am a BMS student and BMS is the best career option.
Let me give you few quick facts about Bms course:
- Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) is a 3 year course.
- The course is a full time course. The duration of the course – six semesters spread over in 3 years.
- There will be optional presentations and assignments related to each and every subject
- There will be 2 type of exams  i.e. internal exam and external exam – 25 marks for internals and 75 marks for external exam
- If you are in a good college, every year you will get an opportunity to enjoy 5-7 days industrial visit.
- Every class / division has 60-120 students.
Here are 11 interesting fact about BMS after that you can’t stop yourself for opting for this course.
-    Fresher’s party
As soon as you enter your college, your seniors will welcome you with a rocking fresher’s party. It is a great day to make new friends especially students who stay nearby your place so that you can go and come together to college. Dress code of the party can be black and white, Las Vegas, Mumbaikar and many more. You will also get to know which subject will be taught by which faculty. How to score more marks in bms course etc. Games, dance and Mr./Ms. Fresher of the college is an amazing thing on this day.
- Seminars
In every month of 2, you will have seminars related to your course in your college. E.g. how to crack your academic subjects, how to prepare and plan for exams and personality development etc.
 
- Presentations
As per the new Mumbai University circular, BMS will not have assignments and presentations from 2014-15, but let me tell you that there will be many colleges who will surely opt for having presentations to help you how to speak, walk, stand and maintain eye contact when sharing your knowledge. From presentations, you will improve your communication skills, public fear, etc. Making about 30-40 presentations and projects will help you to think out of the box and become a Master in preparing PPTs.
- Formal attire
Your wardrobe will be stuffed with minimum two pairs of formal shirts and pants in which a black and a white shirt is a must. Blazers are complementary. Your shoe rack will have shiny polished shoes. All this will make you get a corporate experience in the college itself.
- Competitions
Taking part in debate contests, Best PPT competition, skit competition and many more will help you to speak fast and frankly and develop a winning attitude.
- Scoring better in Internals Than in Externals
You may be thinking why internals are much more important than external exams. Actually your internals includes presentation marks; assignment marks, attendance marks and if you score less marks in your internals then automatically your external marks will be reduced. So here you have to work hard for internals as well as externals.
- College Festivals
This happens in every college but the special thing about these fests is that you can participate, manage and work hard to make your festival a successful event.
- All Rounder’s
We BMS students can talk about everything and anything, ranging from different issues. We can talk about banking or insurance sectors, Advertising or marketing, Economy or accountancy. We are equipped with knowledge of all sectors and that is what broadens our horizons.
- 200 marks Projects
This project will be conducted in your 3rd years of BMS. In this project you have to select any one topic like entertainment, social sector, comparative study, financial sector, market sector and many more. Every single student will be guided by faculties or professors. In these projects, you will have to collect primary data means visiting the company or public surveys and in secondary you can take help of newspaper, social networking site, books and, many more. After submitting the hard copy of the project, you will have internal and external exam vivas for 100 marks.
10. Industrial visit.
Oh wow..!!This is like visiting to heaven. Yes you all heard right – an industrial visit = fun and creating the most memorable experiences of your college life. Industrial visits are a deadly combination of fun, fun and more fun.
11. Excess self-confidence.
After 3 years, talking to people or a crowd of 50 without any fear is a manageable job. The only reason to become the most confident person is because in the 3 years of bms, giving so many presentations, assignments etc. will have removed something called as ‘stage fear’. You will be an bold extrovert, outspoken and start acting as if you rule the world in front of non-BMS students because you are more talented in all the fields than your counterparts.
Life has not been easy for anyone or me but it has taught to be independent and strong at the same time. Doing a BMS course has made me a responsible citizen and as we say – Once a BMS student always a BMS STUDENT.
