Mumbai University to held Students Council Elections on 15th January 2014. Bombay High Court has declined to stay elections to Mumbai university’ students council elections. The court assured that adequate police protection will be provided during the election process. The candidates were being threatened by members of political parties and no actions were taken by the vice-chancellor despite of repeated complaints. University’s advocate Rui Rodrigues said that every candidate is allowed to have a representative and nothing can be done if the representative is affiliated politically. However, the judges said any person who is pressurised during election process will be provided adequate police protection.
