An Interview with Mr. Vimal Solanki, Founder, Wrofit Web Technologies

By Karan Mange, Correspondent, BMS.co.in

  • Tell us something about yourself?

A BE + MBA with more than 12 years of experience in different technical and managerial positions with organizations of repute,

A digital branding & e-commerce consultant by profession,

Like to work with talented people who strongly believe that rat-race is not meant for humans,

Passionate about creating online brands, efficient e-commerce market-space, and athletic user experiences (UX) and great web/mobile apps,

Good at business analysis, application design, Java and related technologies, Android, JavaScript and WebGL.

Learn playing keyboard in leisure and really love it,

Work and music connect me with my almighty.

  • Tell us something about your business?

Wrofit (www.wrofit.com) is all about Technology Prowess + Aesthetical Excellence. Our solutions come with best of the both worlds, by default.

We started with a vision to make web better and more useful for everyone. We strongly believe that the web has very promising solutions to many challenges faced by modern societies’ world over.

Our basic genetics is to create excellent web applications using Java technologies and other front end tools.

Till the date, mainly we have been a service oriented firm though there are some interesting products under development which will be launched in the market space very soon.

  • What is your philosophy towards work?

Find out your passion as early as possible and give your best to it. The rest will follow.

  •  “Management is core to every individual, organization & society.” Give your views on it.

Management is like a smart invention – makes lives easier and more enjoyable.

  • Name 3 qualities of prime importance that an entrepreneur should possess.

Vision, Perseverance and Courage.

Vision will decide what needs to be done. Perseverance will let him/her do it with 100% dedication. And courage will help to stand up and fight against all odds.

  • According to you, what are the challenges for Entrepreneurship today?

The most prominent one is that of talent acquisition & nurturing. People still prefer secure jobs to being a part of startups. Bigger the risk, bigger the glory – this equation still doesn’t attract many minds. May be another couple of years and things would start being better.

Second challenge is that of syncing the solutions with the market. Many a times I feel technological solutions are far ahead of what market, especially Indian market, is able to use as a habit. Our tech savvy-ness is limited to using emails and office suit. This makes many good entrepreneurial ideas vulnerable to failure.

  • Can Entrepreneurship be taught in B-Schools?

Entrepreneurship is all about mindset. A college or institution can teach the skills and processes to be a successful entrepreneur but cannot inculcate the mindset, I guess.

  • Do you think today’s economy is conducive for a new venture to start upon?

I firmly believe there is no wrong time to do right things and starting a venture is not an exception.

  • Is the Name of the Institute from where a student pursues his/her Graduation important while setting up business?

If someone is from a premier institutes like IITs or IIMs, he/she definitely will have an edge in terms of network access and initial momentum but it doesn’t make him/her immune to the market realities. It is ultimately the market space that decides fate of a business in most cases.

  • What qualities you see for apart from the required academic qualification while recruiting a person?

These days, there is a huge gap in academic qualification and actual knowledge the person is supposed to have. In such a scenario, sincerity, readiness to learn and level of commitment become important attributes in a prospective employee. But in my own experience, it is the sixth sense that provides better judgment while recruiting a person.

  • “Earning more & more is the motive behind any business.” Is it justifiable?

Greed breaks not only the business but economy as well. And there are enough evidences.

It’s a useful initiative. Keep it up.
