Top colleges in the city have claimed that they have already filled up 85-95 per cent of the seats for self-financed courses at the end of the second round of the admissions. While most colleges claimed to have exhaust ed seats in the BMM and BMS course, the seats remaining are those from courses like BAF, BBI, BFM and others.
Confirming that almost all seats for the BMM and BMS courses had been filled up, Dr Ashok Wadia, principal of Jai Hind College said, “Overall, we have had filled up 95 per cent of the seats. As a result of this we may not announce the merit list for some of the courses. The few seats left will get filled up by Monday during the third round of admissions,” said Dr Wadia.
Dr Sunil Mantri, principal of NM College at Vile Parle also said that while BMM and BMS courses had overwhelming number of applications, the remaining courses were also having mixed preferences among students. “Though we have filled up most of the seats, we are expecting some cancellations and hence, can safely assume that there is an 80-85 per cent completion of admissions,” said Dr Mantri. He added that the cut-offs for the third merit list would be displayed on the website.
Announcing the completion of admissions in their college after the second round itself, Dr Suhas Pednekar, principal of Ruia College said, “Most of the seats in both the traditional and self-financed courses have been filled up. We will not be having an elaborate third merit list,” said Dr Pednekar.
Meanwhile, the University of Mumbai has announced that the online registration process that was concluded on Tuesday would continue till such a time when admissions to all traditional degree college and self-financed courses were completed. “Those students who do not enroll even now can take admission to the Institute of Distance and Open Learning if they fail to get admission to regular colleges,” said an official.
