This is ratio which should maintain by the commercial banks. It is the ratio the bank should maintain in the form of cash of their total deposits. If this ratio is increased by RBI the commercial bank have less funds to give as loan and if this ratio is reduce the commercial banks have more funds to give the public as loan and this resultant in expansion of money in economy this ratio was in April 2004 is 4.5%.
