•System is based on numbers-either simple numbers, or block number or dash or stroke numbers.
(a)Simple numbers
-One number is alloted against each material, while certain other numbers are kept as provision of other items.
(b) Block number
– The numbers are designed so that materials of similar nature or block come under one block e.g. raw materials under one block of 1-1000; consumables and lubricants under 1001-2000; packing materials under 2001-3000.
