-Operate on 24×7 basis are limited only by commodity changeover and maintenance.
-No empty container or vehicle that must be returned.
-Highest fixed cost an lowest variable cost.
-High fixed costs due to right-of-way, construction and requirements for control station and pumping capacity.
-As pipelines are not labour intensive, variable operating cost is extremely low once the pipeline is constructed.
-Inflexible and limited to products in the form of gas, liquid or slurry.
