Buffer Uncertainties
-Safety stock protects against two types of uncertainties:
-(a) Demand in excess of forecast during the performance cycle. For instance, customers’ request of more or less units than planned.
-Delays in the performance-cycle length itself. For instance, delay in order receipt, order processing, or transportation.
