There is something long distance lovers would love. Feeling your lover’s hand through Skype or Google hangouts is now a reality. This seems something weird and unbelievable. Feel your lover’s hand through a wireless accessory – Frebble. ‘Romantic Technology’ isn’t it? Not particularly for couples but for all who have loved ones.
Scientists have created a wireless accessory – ‘Frebble’ which lets you hold your partner’s hand from anywhere in the world. Frebble can be used alongside video chat services such as Skype so that people can see, hear and also feel each other.
It uses haptic technology to mimic the sensation of someone giving you a reassuring squeeze of the hand, using a pair of two small devices.
When the Frebble is squeezed by one person, the corresponding gadget will apply pressure to the back of a partner’s hand, to simulate holding hands. A multicolour LED will indicate connection status and when a squeeze is waiting. Similar to a Facebook Poke where in notifications appear when one person pokes another.
The gadgets will be able to be recharged using a micro-USB cable and will work with Google Chrome version24 or higher and Firefox version 16 and higher.
Frebble is the brainchild of entrepreneur Frederic Petrignani, of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. He is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to put the devices into production.
