When AS MONACO was taken over by wealthy owners, it looked clear that the French champions PSG had a serious contender to deal with. The transfer window was buzzing with potential moves of star players to AS MONACO. Everything looked to be going well, with the French club achieving second position in the league and a champion’s league place. But suddenly stars don’t look so bright for the club now.
FIFA has introduced the new fair play rules this season, and no club looks to be hit more severely than AS MONACO. The owners of the club bought in super talented players like Radamel falcao, James Rodrigues, Joan moutinho, for huge expense. But this transfer window the club has been forced to sell some of their top players to save it from going bankrupt. Rodrigues was sold to Real Madrid, and on the deadline day falcao was sent on loan to Manchester utd, which includes a clause to buy the player at the end of the contract for 55 million. The bad news continued to come for the fans and the club as they lost their first two opening games.
When the owners of the club were asked to explain their decision to let players go, they responded by saying that. This is an transition period for the club, The club has a small ground which can only hold up to 10,000 people. Thus there was a very narrow source for income that came in. Following the rules laid down by FIFA had curbed us from further spending. Thus we decided to go towards a long term solution by building a team from scratch, to focus on young talents like ocumpos and kurzawa. And try to compete in the league by playing good quality football.
It is clear that the club is in a bad position right now, the players’ coach and the owners are facing the rage of the fans. But still like they say, there is one thing common between bad times and good times, they both have an expiry on them. Now is the time that AS MONACO needs their fans the most, so they should quit mocking their team on social networking sites and get behind the club, or else it would be a sad pre-mature demise for AS MONACO.
