Accounting profits are subject to ambiguous interpretation because of the broad latitude provided by generally accepted accounting principles. Finally, accounting profit concepts may not be reflective of the actual cashflows collected and paid by a company over time, especially when one considers differential methods of computing deprecation and of inventory valuation.
