  • Tell us more about yourself.

I am a fresh graduate from H.R College, and I want to pursue a career in the field of Finance. I am fond of Indian music and dance, and I am also very passionate about cricket! I am an ardent fan of the game, and must admit that the IPL was a major distraction during the exams!

  • Were you expecting to top in the exams? To whom would you credit this success to?

I wasn’t expecting this at all. It came as a pleasant surprise.

The credit for this goes to my teachers for helping me build a strong academic base, my family for their constant support, and my friends for making the BMS experience an enjoyable and fulfilling one.

  • Did you prepare religiously from day One or A few weeks before the exams?

I started studying about 4 weeks before the exams. However, the class tests that we had throughout the semester covered a major chunk of our portion, so we were not under any stress towards the semester end.

  • How did you allot time to different subjects?

I would try to follow a self- made time table. I usually studied one subject over a couple of days and then moved on the next one. The number of
hours I put in per day varied depending on how heavy the subject was.

  • Can you share some insights on how to crack the subjects before exams?

I think for the theory subjects a well presented paper written in point format, with important points underlined and diagrams made wherever possible would help.
For the practical papers however, the only way to crack them is loads of practice through the semester.

  • Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

I did take coaching classes in the practical subjects for additional practice. But I must say that both, my college professors as well as coaching class tutors contributed immensely towards my result.

  • Did you participate in college fests or extra-curricular activities? Do you think a BMS student can manage both studies and extra activities?

I did participate in a couple of BMS fests through these 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. As long as a festival is not too close to exams, I don’t see any reason why BMS students should not participate.

  • Did you pursue any additional courses/ internships alongside BMS?

I was part of the ‘Honours Programme’ offered by our college. It gave me the opportunity to attend seminars, do an NGO internship, travel within the country, etc which were very enriching experiences indeed.

  • Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

It is very disheartening to hear about stress related suicides. However, I think that parents play an important role in the same. They should not put  undue pressure on them. Also, they should be able to sense when their kids are depressed and take immediate action by counselling them and giving them the additional love and support they may need.
I don’t have a stress management technique, but the strong support from my family and friends was my stress reliever.

  • Do you think the number of Industrial visits should be increased for BMS Students? Which industries have you visited?

The number of industrial visits offered differs from college to college. Our college gave us the opportunity to visit certain industries as a part of  our project requirements.
Some of my industrial visits included a magnet manufacturing firm, a garment export firm & a firm manufacturing transformers.

  • Do you think BMS students are flooded with assignments, projects and internal exams round the clock? What changes would you like to bring in the BMS Curriculum?

There have been times when I have felt bogged down by several projects and assignments given to us all at once. But it only prepares you for the future. And so we should just take it in our stride and move on.
The BMS Curriculum does include some very relevant subjects such as International Finance, Financial Management, Managerial Economics, etc. However I think that updating the syllabus more often would help.

  • What message would you like to give to the next batch of BMS students?

Each individual has a different capacity to absorb and assimilate information. I would just like to tell each student to prepare according to his/her individual strengths & weaknesses. Meanwhile Enjoy and make the most of this 3 year journey!

  • What are the future plans post BMS?

I will be heading to the UK this fall for a Masters in Accounting and Finance.

Great going guys! You all are doing an outstanding job!

Thank You.
