An Interview with Ms. Nushrat Naureen, Founder, Wedding Decor by NUSHRAT

by Aeman Waghoo, Content Writer,

Always put your heart & soul in everything you do. Do not aim for success, aim for excellence.

  • Tell us something about yourself.

I am Nushrat Naureen, a 27 year old Bangladeshi. I am an entrepreneur in the field of wedding decoration. Rituals like wedding are the most memorable and the most precious event in human life regardless of geographical location. Bangladesh is a densely populated country and wedding is a very frequently occurring event in the country. Being a business student of post graduation & having completed my bachelors in Accounting, I thought this work will actually give me opportunity to demonstrate my passion for creative arts and designs as well as earn regularly at a lowest possible cost. Being a student of commerce, I realized, this would be the best platform to start as an entrepreneur.

  • Tell us something about your business. How were you inspired to take up this entrepreneurship, its vision & current status?

Wedding is always something special, an exclusive and most electric moment of a person’s life. Whenever I would decorate my own family programs I always had a thought how I could make it more grand and exclusive. Then I wondered why should I limit my passion to my own territory only?! Let’s spread this out to others who are always looking for someone who can help them out in their wedding decorations. Moreover, people have their own dreams and imaginations about this very special day; how to make it charming, how to decorate, how to make each moment enjoyable, and so on. All these thoughts helped me to start my small quest “Wedding Décor by Nushrat”.

The Vision of “Wedding Decor by Nushrat” is ‘to make the wedding an ever memorable one for the people’, to complete the wedding event with excellent decoration and make people remember this for creative decorations, colorful metaphors/motifs, wise selection of materials and overall presentation!

When I was a teen, I’ve always been fond of working with colors, papers and handwork; I used to decorate weddings of relatives and get huge appreciation.

“Wedding Decor by Nushrat” has been running successfully. Now my business arena has widely spread out at home and abroad. I have already worked with the people living in USA, UK and CANADA.

  • What is your philosophy towards work?

Always put your heart & soul in everything you do. Do not aim for success, aim for excellence.

  • “Management is core to every individual, organization & society.” Give your views on it.

I agree with this statement. Management is essential to handle information and knowledge intelligently and responsibly. Therefore, it is necessary to manage knowledge on an individual as well as in the organizational level. Hence, it is automatically going to involve the society as well.

However, if knowledge management is to be established as a long-term strategy, it must address the following factors simultaneously: individuals, organization, and technology for constant upgradation.

  • Name 3 qualities of prime importance that an entrepreneur should possess.

1) Passion 2) Intelligence and 3)Loyalty

  • According to you, what are the challenges for Entrepreneurship today?

To become unique in the crowd. It has been seen a lot of time that one creates and others follow. It might work wonderfully if we look out to the markets and brands. But I think, as an entrepreneur, one should always have some unique and exclusive features that no one can grab and immitate easily.

  • Can Entrepreneurship be taught in B-Schools/Management Institutes/Colleges?

Yes, certainly! It opens up young minds and aid them to exlpore their hidden talents. I would like to emphasize on more to its technical or practical side rather than its academics. Because, if the faculty members give their students a task to eastiblish one entrepreneural assignment, that would be most helpful for them. It will help them to understand how creative and management skills could be teamed up; at the same time how challenging and difficult is to set up an entrepreneurship.

  • “Is the Name of the Institute from where a student pursue his/her Graduation/Post Graduation or other courses important while setting up your business?

  • “Earning more & more is the motive behind any business.” Is it justifiable?

Of course not!! If someone only concentrates on earning money then it will never be successful. I believe earning will be increased if someone puts all his/her efforts, hard works and creativity in his/her business.

  • Share with us the most enjoyable & most embarrassing moment you had experienced on work.

There are many but the most precious moment is when I see the sparkle of happiness in my clients’ eyes at the time of delivery, is the most enjoyable moment I’ve ever experienced in my works.

I  enjoy all the experiences, good and bad; and I take it as learning for future. Therefore, no embarrassing moments at all!

  • What message would you like to give to the budding entrepreneurs?

Live your own dream and follow your heart!! You never know, when it is going to touch the sky. seems to be a very good initiative to pursue business knowledge among the students. I wish good luck to all the youngsters for taking an intelligent decision to be a part of
