Interview with Sukanya Shettigar, TYBMS Sem 5 Topper 2013-14, VPM’s R.Z.Shah College of Arts, Science & Commerce who scored 77%.

How does it feel to be a Topper in the university exams? Whom will you credit your success to? What was your success mantra?

It feels ecstatic to see your efforts reap fruits. My parents, professors and friends have played a pivotal role in motivating me, guiding me & pushing me to do my best. If you work smart & hard and are willing to go the extra mile you are bound to taste success. Be Different.

Did you prepare any timetable and please share your study strategy/exam tips to crack each subject of sem 5?

I did not follow a set timetable. One most focus on getting the concepts right. You must prepare your own notes with adequate use of flow charts; it will make your learning process easier.

Do you think BMS student require coaching classes or is self-study enough? Had you joined any coaching class for a particular subject?

BMS as a course is quite manageable. I had not enrolled any coaching class for any particular subject.

What was your specialization subject? Why did you opt for it?

I opted for Special Studies in Marketing. The reason being that Marketing is an area of my interest.

Can you list the textbooks you referred for all subjects?

I referred to the text books published by Rishabh Publications

Which was your worst paper? Why? Which was your best paper? Why?

All my papers were fairly good.

Today, we often come across students committing suicide out of failure, depression or tension of exams. What do you have to say about this? Did you use any special techniques for stress management?

One must remember that success and failure in life is not always based on academic performance. Yes, it is important to do well but it is not the end of it all. There is always a second chance. Students must put in fairly good amount of efforts so that they can face their exams confidently

To beat stress I used to apply deep breathing techniques and meditate. Listening to music also soothes the nerves

The Black Book project contributing a significant part to the percentage, please share the experiences you had during the preparation of the project and how has it benefited you.

I thoroughly enjoyed working on my project titled “ Entrepreneurship & Start-up Ecosystem in India”. The very activities such as interviewing entrepreneurs, collecting data, analyzing them making recommendations made it an enriching learning experience. He icing on the cake was when my project was selected for the ‘Avishkar Research Convention’ organized by Mumbai University.

Any tips and advises for your juniors?

Give it your best. Be confident, Be different, Believe in yourself.
