1) Uppalapu Srinivas was born on 28th February 1969 in Palakolu, Andhra Pradesh.
2) He was an Indian mandolin player of the Carnatic music in South India.
3) He played an electronic mandolin and was awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2010.
4) Indian musical gurus like Lata Mangeshkar, Zakir Hussain had called him a “Shining Star” and a “Genius”.
5)Â He had never played a false note in his illustrious career.
6)Â Srinivas was 45, he passed away at a private hospital on 19th September 2014 after prolonged illness.
7) He was facing liver problem and underwent a liver transplant surgery.
8) He was a world renowned musician who gave mandolin – a western instrument – a permanent status in the Carnatic music world.
9) When he was 6 year old boy, Srinivas used to play his father’s mandolin and his brother U. Rajesh is also a noted mandolin player.
10) He gave his first public performance in 1978 in Andhra Pradesh at the age of 9 and when he was 12, he performed at the Madras Music Season for the Indian Fine Arts Society.
