She looked at her watch for the umpteenth time. 8:57 am. The lecture would start in 3 minutes. Or ma’am could be a few minutes late. Of course, she’d allow students inside 5 minutes after her entrance, wouldn’t she?
She sighed, tired of thinking about the possibilities of where he could be at that time. Could he be hanging with that Natasha girl? He’d promised he’d attend the lecture. Maybe he was just late.
Or he just wanted to shut you at that time.
She had to stop thinking so much. It didn’t matter!
She almost narrowed her eyes at her inner voice.
Just then, Natasha entered the classroom. She didn’t know if she felt relieved or frustrated. She was tired looking at the door, waiting for him to make an entrance and seeing every unwanted person entering.
Then she saw the teacher entering the door, just when she was imagining him to appear there. She tried not to make a face at the teacher for being so damn punctual and stood up to wish her along with the other students. She lost all hope when the teacher started teaching. Her mind was anywhere but at what was being taught.
She was plain angry at him. What did he think of her?! Or why was she thinking so much about him?! She knew was being unreasonable, childish and a hopeless girl. She took a deep breath calmed herself. He didn’t attend a lecture, so what? Why was she making a fuss about it? She tried listening to what the teacher was saying, failing awfully.
She didn’t want to think about how long the lecture would seem. Her mind started replaying the memories. All the times when ma’am caught him being mischievous, the times when he, just for sake of talking, asked her the time, when he’d tease her about her geeky spectacles, his cute boyish smile, his sheepish expression whenever she’d find him looking at her during the lecture…
She didn’t realize her lips had curved into a small smile.
The class erupted into a long chorus of “O“.
That shook her out of her thoughts. She saw him standing at the door.
He is here, he actually came!
She suddenly started feeling stupid for being angry on him. She smiled like a fool looking at him.
Her face fell when the teacher looked at her wrist watch. Her eyes flew to check the time on her watch.
Really? You really think you’ll be allowed inside 25 minutes after the lecture has started? You fool!
The teacher cocked an eyebrow at him, knowing nothing needed to be said.
And then, he did that. He smiled! He dared to smile his heart-breaking, flirtatious smile at the teacher!
The teacher shook her head, in amusement! He got inside the class with triumphant eyes. Her mouth fell open in surprise.
His eyes met hers and he knew she’d been staring. She closed her mouth immediately. He smirked and walked past her. She tried to hide the blush and smile that crept on her face, her heart racing. No matter what, she could never be angry with him, especially with that smile of his.
“I told you I keep my word,” he said from behind her, his voice making it impossible for her to hide her smile.
“I hate you,” she said her all too familiar dialogue, smiling widely, revealing that she meant quite the opposite…
She didn’t mind the boring lecture now…
